Oakcrest Alum Johnny Berchtold Shines in Standout Role in Season 3 of ‘Reacher’
South Jersey fans of the Amazon Prime show Reacher might recognize a familiar face.
The character Richard Beck is played by Oakcrest High School alum Johnny Berchtold, who grew up in Mays Landing.
In the show, Berchtold's character, Richard, is the son of Zack Beck, who is a shady businessman, played by Anthony Michael Hall. Berchtold's character had his ear cut off by his father's boss, and is bullied around town by many of the locals.

The character Major Jack Reacher, known as simply Reacher in the show, comes to the aid of Beck as a way to gain entry into his father's business, to get back at an old enemy.
Berchtold isn't the only local tie with the show; in one episode in Season 3, the show's main character, Reacher, makes a reference to Cape May when asked what he was doing in Maine.
It's a funny exchange, with his dry, matter-of-fact style of humor.
Officer Duffy: "What are you doing in Maine?
Reacher: "I wanted good lobster," Reacher answered.
Officer Villanueva: "We're being serious."
Reacher: "So am I. I was in Cape May, I had subpar lobster, wanted better, so I came up here."
Here is the full exchange.
In Season 2, Episode 2, the episode is named "What Happens in Atlantic City", with a lot of the show set in the city or using footage of the city.
They have views of the Atlantic City Boardwalk, Resorts hotel and casino made a cameo, and they even make reference to The White House Sub Shop.
