Most Popular South Jersey Tourist Traps Locals All LOVE To Hate
Us locals aren't afraid to poke fun at all the popular South Jersey tourist traps. Even though we may love to hate on these iconic tourist spots, they still hold a special place in our hearts.

The specific spots I'm referring to are more than just attractions that draw in the masses during the summer months. They're a part of the state's charm. We have so many memories at these places, whether we visit them all the time or haven't stepped foot near them in years.
South Jersey's Most Popular Tourist Traps
Lucy the Elephant in Margate is a PERFECT example. Sure, we might now all rush to see her the minute the weather starts warming up here in Atlantic County, but if anyone even suggests moving her or messing with our girl, you better watch out. We'll defend our big Lucy girl until the very end! South Jersey locals would unite SO FAST to protect her. She's got to be one of the most iconic symbols in all of Atlantic County.
The same can be said for Storybook Land in Egg Harbor Township. If you don't have any little ones in your life, you might not remember the last time you hopped on the big red train for a ride around the park or enjoyed a ride on the Happy Dragon coaster. For parents and kids from all over the Tri-state area, it's almost like a rite of passage. Once the kids grow up, it's easy to forget about it. The memories, though, will never go away. Sooo much nostalgia!
The Locals Got Jokes, But It's All Love
Places like these may not make it onto our personal to-do lists anymore, but there's a deep love for them that can never be replaced. We may joke about them being total tourist traps, but we'd never want them to disappear. They've become part of the fabric of South Jersey life, at this point. Tourists get to experience them with fresh eyes each an every year, but we'll always defend them like they're our own.
