Gillian's Wonderland Pier Closes for Good

It's an iconic amusement park on the boardwalk in beautiful Ocean City, New Jersey, and it's down to the final days before Gillian's Wonderland Pier closes its gates forever. The park's closure marks an end to a 94-year run for Gillian's which opened in 1930. The park's closure was announced earlier this year. According to Patch "Owner and Mayor Jay Gillian announced Wonderland's imminent closure early in August."

So if you are planning to visit Gillian's Wonderland Pier in Ocean City you better hurry up because they are closing for good in little over 2 weeks. It's been announced the 94-year-old park is closing after the business day on Sunday, October 13th. "The park's final day is announced on an automated message when you call their phone number. On its last day, Wonderland will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The closure comes the day after Ocean City's popular Fall Block Party."

According to the Patch article, "I tried my best to sustain Wonderland for as long as possible - through increasingly difficult challenges each year," Gillian said. "But it's no longer a viable business."

We have visited Gillian's many times over the years and my kids play a lot of games and rode a lot of rides when we visited Ocean City. The boardwalk is beautiful along the ocean in Ocean City and I hope there are some viable ideas on what is to become of the pier. "The closure comes the day after Ocean City's popular Fall Block Party."
