What You Need To Know About The Stomach Bug Hitting New Jersey
Just thinking about it is enough to make my stomach churn.
The last thing anyone needs right now is that awful stomach bug going around New Jersey.
Do you know anyone who has caught it, or maybe you've been dealing with it yourself?
Ugh, it sounds awful!
The Norovirus, otherwise known as the stomach bug, is spreading quickly throughout the state and nationwide, outbreaks are currently at their highest level in over 10 years, according to an article on NJ.com.
Although it's extremely contagious, there are some things you can do to help prevent yourself from getting it, but first, let's talk about the dreadful symptoms.

Norovirus Symptoms
According to the Mayo Clinic, the most common symptoms of the Norovirus are:
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- Stomach Pain
- Low-Grade Fever
- Muscle Pain
Symptoms usually last around 1-3 days.
Norovirus Prevention
Here's what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says you should do to help prevent the spread of this nasty stomach bug:
- Wash your Hands Well
- Handle and Prepare Food Safely
- Clean and Disinfect Surfaces
- Wash Laundry Well
If you do come down with it the CDC recommends driving plenty of water and making sure to call your doctor if you're worried about dehydration.
Unfortunately, there's no treatment for Norovirus infections so you'll have to just wait it out.
It's important to get a lot of rest and hopefully, you'll feel better soon.
