What To Keep In Your Car For Unexpected Breakdowns

Getting stuck on the side of the road this morning was definitely a reminder that I should've been a little more prepared.

As I was driving into work, my car suddenly stopped accelerating out of nowhere. I haven't had any major issues with it, so the whole thing came as a total surprise.

Thankfully, I was able to pull over safely. I stayed put and just waited for AAA. Sitting there in the dark, with nothing to do for hours but wait, gave me plenty of time to think about what I should probably keep in my car, in case this ever happens again.

The first thing that came to mind, this time of year, was a blanket. It was cold this morning, so having a blanket would have been nice. It's so simple! Why not just keep one in the back of the car? I definitely will from now on.

Vehicle Emergency Essentials

Another item that would've really come in handy this morning is a fully charged portable phone charger. I was on the phone with AAA for a while, and started getting nervous that my phone was going to die right along with my car.

A backup charger would have been good to have. Water and snacks would have been nice, too.

The one big thing I was prepared for was having AAA.

Being part of a roadside assistance program really gave me peace of mind, knowing there was someone to call when I needed help on the road.
