Getting Stuck On The Road Made Me Realize Every New Jersey Driver Needs These Car Essentials
What To Keep In Your Car For Unexpected Breakdowns
Getting stuck on the side of the road this morning was definitely a reminder that I should've been a little more prepared.
As I was driving into work, my car suddenly stopped accelerating out of nowhere. I haven't had any major issues with it, so the whole thing came as a total surprise.

Thankfully, I was able to pull over safely. I stayed put and just waited for AAA. Sitting there in the dark, with nothing to do for hours but wait, gave me plenty of time to think about what I should probably keep in my car, in case this ever happens again.
The first thing that came to mind, this time of year, was a blanket. It was cold this morning, so having a blanket would have been nice. It's so simple! Why not just keep one in the back of the car? I definitely will from now on.

Another item that would've really come in handy this morning is a fully charged portable phone charger. I was on the phone with AAA for a while, and started getting nervous that my phone was going to die right along with my car.
A backup charger would have been good to have. Water and snacks would have been nice, too.
The one big thing I was prepared for was having AAA.
Being part of a roadside assistance program really gave me peace of mind, knowing there was someone to call when I needed help on the road.
