Five people were injured in two separate accidents on the Atlantic City Expressway.

WPVI-TV reports the first accident happened around 11:30 Friday night when two cars collided on the westbound side near Exit 41 for Berlin-Cross Keys Road. Authorities say the crash caused one vehicle to catch fire, Three people were hurt; two were flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries

The second accident occurred around 7:15 Saturday morning on the eastbound lanes near Exit 9 for the airport. In that crash, a tractor trailer and a car collided, sending the truck into the woods. The Press of Atlantic City reports two people were flown by helicopter to an area hospital with serious injuries. Traffic through that stretch of the Expressway was backed-up for hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
