Alexandri M. Surgent, 74,  the Ocean City woman who was brutally murdered on Friday in her son's apartment in Ocean City was the provider for two of her teenage grandchildren. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started for the children's care.

What Happened to Alexandri Surgent?

Court documents say that Alexandri's son, Jeffrey D. Surgent, 46, called 911 about 4 pm Friday to report he “had just killed his mother,” saying that he suffered from mental health issues. When police arrived, they found the man in a hallway outside the apartment, lying nude on top of the headless body of his mother, according to the affidavit. Her head was found a few feet away in the hallway of his apartment in the 300 block of Sixth Street,

What Are the Charges Facing Jeffery Surgent?

Surgent was charged with first-degree murder, along with weapons offenses and refusal to submit to fingerprinting. He is being held in the Cape May County Jail.

Alexandri Surgent Was caring for Her Grandchildren?

A GoFundMe established to help the children says that Alexandri "was a loving caretaker, protector, and provider to two of her grandchildren Chase,16,  and Sadie, 13,  who live here in town. She made sure they had a roof over their head at all times, were properly fed and overall taken care of."

The GoFundMe is asking for cash donations or any other type of help you may be able to provide. A meal train has also been started to help these children, so dinner or gift cards are also being requested.
